The aims of the survey test where :
- To quantify the amount of discrepency in accuracy between locations recorded using a hand-held GPS system compared to those recorded using a total station (electronic theodolite)
- To record the differences between an experienced metal detector user and that of a novice
- To record the differences between different types of metal detectors
- To record the differences in time taken by different people over the same area
- To record the differences in time and productivity by the same person over the same area but in a different direction
